The Grassy Knoll is a small, sloping hillside on the north side of Elm Street within Dealey Plaza. It is distinguished by a five-foot wooden stockade fence running along its crest and a set of concrete steps leading up the embankment. This site became a focal point of American history on November twenty-second, nineteen sixty-three, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated during a motorcade through the plaza.
