The Majestic Theatre is a five-story Renaissance Revival building on Elm Street, recognizable by its decorative cornice and the tripartite windows that run across its middle floors. Opened in April nineteen twenty-one, it was built as the flagship performance palace for Karl Hoblitzelle’s Interstate Amusement Company, which occupied the top four floors as its headquarters. The theater was the grandest stop on a stretch of Elm Street once known as Theater Row.
