Traveling Man Sculpture - Waiting on a Train

The Traveling Man is a series of three large-scale robot sculptures made of stainless steel sheets and joined by approximately ten thousand rivets. These figures honor the industrial and railway heritage of the Deep Ellum neighborhood in Dallas, which grew around the tracks in the late nineteenth century. Dallas Area Rapid Transit commissioned the sculptures in two thousand seven to replace a series of colorful murals destroyed during the construction of a new light rail line.
