One Main Place at twelve zero one Main Street is identifiable by its textured concrete frame and deep-set windows, a design Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill created to withstand the intense Southwestern sun. Completed in nineteen sixty-eight, the thirty-three-story skyscraper stands on a site that occupies nearly an entire city block. It was conceived as the centerpiece of a planned urban renewal project intended to stimulate growth in downtown Dallas, though it remains the only building from that specific vision ever constructed.
