Dallas Farmers Market

The Dallas Farmers Market is identified by its large, open-air pavilion known as The Shed, where vendors gather to sell produce and handmade goods. This site, located at nine hundred twenty South Harwood Street, traces its origins to the late nineteenth century when farmers sold livestock, eggs, and produce from wagons at the intersection of South Pearl Expressway and Cadiz Street. As the city expanded, the municipal government constructed the first permanent shed in nineteen thirty-nine to protect vendors and shoppers. By nineteen forty-one, the market became an officially sanctioned, city-operated facility.
