The Hungerburgbahn is a hybrid funicular railway recognizable by its four stations, which feature curved, white-shell roofs that resemble mounds of ice or flowing glaciers. Opened in December two thousand seven, this modern system carries passengers from the Congress station in the city center to the mountain district of Hungerburg. It serves as a direct link between the urban heart of Innsbruck and the slopes of the Nordkette mountain range, climbing an elevation difference of two hundred eighty-eight meters.
