Alpenzoo Innsbruck - Tirol

cultural

The Alpenzoo sits on the steep southern slopes of the Nordkette mountain range, identified by a collection of enclosures that disappear into the hillside forest. This is the highest zoo in Europe, standing seven hundred and fifty meters above sea level. While most zoos aim for exotic variety, this one holds a world-record collection of over two thousand animals dedicated exclusively to Alpine species, ranging from golden eagles and lynx to a massive cold-water aquarium.
