Court Church Innsbruck

The Court Church, or Hofkirche, is defined by the twenty-eight larger-than-life bronze statues that stand guard inside. These figures, known locally as the Black Men, flank a massive central tomb that dominates the nave. While the church was built by Emperor Ferdinand the First between fifteen fifty-three and fifteen sixty-three specifically to house this monument, the sarcophagus itself is empty.
