City Tower

The City Tower, or Stadtturm, rises fifty-one meters above the Old Town as a stone pillar crowned by a Renaissance-style copper onion dome. Built between fourteen forty-two and fourteen fifty, the structure served as an extension of the Old Town Hall and remains a mark of the civic confidence held by Innsbruck’s citizens during the fifteenth century. Its construction is defined by a massive, six-story base built from Höttinger Breccie, a stone found only in the local area.
