Eduard-Wallnöfer-Platz

Eduard-Wallnöfer-Platz is a wide, trapezoidal expanse in the heart of Innsbruck defined by its smooth, undulating concrete surface. This expansive stone landscape serves as a deliberate modern contrast to the surrounding architecture, most notably the heavy, monumental facade of the New Landhaus building at its northern edge. Built between nineteen thirty-eight and nineteen thirty-nine, that government seat was originally designed as a regional headquarters for the Nazi party, intended to anchor a site for massive political parades.
