Stift Wilten is distinguished by its grand, austere monastery complex standing directly alongside the ornately decorated, light-filled Wilten Basilica. Founded in eleven thirty-eight by Bishop Reginbert of Brixen, this site occupies the ruins of the Roman fort of Veldidena. It remains the oldest monastery in Tyrol, serving as a center for the Premonstratensian order and hosting the renowned Wilten Boys' Choir.
