The Haji Bani Bath complex sits within the ancient walls of Baku’s Old City, defined by the remains of stone chambers and a series of domes that once rose above the subterranean halls. Built in the fifteenth century, this site was commissioned by Haji Gaib and constructed by the architect Haji Banu. Because the bathhouse was positioned along a major caravan route near the Maiden Tower, it functioned as a central gathering space for merchants and travelers to rest and share news.
