The Sibelius Monument stands out as a massive, undulating wave of five hundred sixty-nine hollow stainless steel pipes welded together and set upon natural granite rock. Designed by sculptor Eila Hiltunen and unveiled in nineteen sixty-seven, the memorial honors the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The structure weighs twenty-four tonnes and rises over eight metres into the air, creating a cavity that visitors can enter.
