The Temppeliaukio Church is marked by a massive copper-clad dome that appears to hover just above a rugged, granite-strewn outcrop. Unlike a traditional sanctuary, this church is excavated directly into the solid bedrock, leaving the rock walls inside raw and exposed, with visible drill marks from the construction process.
