Helsinki Congress Paasitorni

Paasitorni is a castle-like granite structure defined by a high tower that rises above the Hakaniemi district. Designed by architect Karl Lindahl and completed in nineteen oh eight, the building was originally created to house the Helsinki Workers’ Association. Its massive stone facade was hewn directly from the bedrock on which the building stands. In a display of foresight, the laborers saved some of the excess stone during the initial construction, which was later used for an extension finished in nineteen twenty-five.
