Uspenski Cathedral

Uspenski Cathedral is defined by its deep red brick exterior and a cluster of thirteen golden, onion-shaped domes that crown the building. Perched on a rocky hill on the Katajanokka peninsula, it remains the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe. The cathedral was completed in eighteen sixty-eight, during a period when Finland was an autonomous Grand Duchy under the Russian Empire.
