St. John's Church

St. John's Church is defined by its two slender, seventy-four-meter-tall towers that dominate the skyline of southern Helsinki. Completed in eighteen ninety-one, this massive Neo-Gothic structure features a facade of red brick anchored by a substantial granite foundation. It was built to accommodate a rapidly growing population that had outgrown the city's older parish churches, earning its original name, the New Church.
