The India Habitat Centre spans nine acres in New Delhi and is defined by its five interconnected blocks and climate-tempered courtyards. Opened in nineteen ninety-three, the complex was the brainchild of Housing and Urban Development Corporation chairman Santosh Sharma and architect Joseph Allen Stein. They set out to move away from the traditional model of a singular office building, instead creating an urban design project that brings together diverse institutions focused on habitat and environmental issues.
