Jor Bagh Park

Jor Bagh takes its name from the Bagh-e-Jud, a historical garden whose trees once defined the landscape of this area. While the neighborhood now serves as a residential enclave, its history is tied to the estate of the Nawabs of Awadh. In the eighteenth century, the land was part of their holdings, and the nearby village of Aliganj was a site of deep communal significance. For the local Shia community, this area acted as a graveyard where annual Muharram processions concluded, a tradition that persists today on a smaller scale within a reduced plot of land.
