Agra College, one of the oldest institutions of learning in North India, is recognized by its distinctive Gothic architecture spread across a sixty-six acre campus on Mahatma Gandhi Road. Established in eighteen twenty-three, the college was founded through an endowment from Pandit Gangadhar Shastri, a Sanskrit scholar and astrologer who served under Madhav Rao Peshwa of Gwalior.
