Allen Kitchen is a compact, century-old eatery characterized by a bright, visible signboard and a green-colored entrance on Jatindra Mohan Avenue. Established in eighteen eighty-four, this destination emerged in the city's culinary landscape when a local resident named Jeeban Krishna Saha took over a small shop originally founded by a Scottish man named Mr. Allen. While the business once operated five separate branches across Kolkata, this Sovabazar location is the only one that remains today.
