Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a lush, twelve-and-a-half-hectare jungle reserve distinguished by its hundreds of free-roaming Balinese long-tailed macaques and three fourteenth-century Hindu temples. Located in the village of Padangtegal, the site is managed by a local foundation that preserves the forest as a spiritual, ecological, and educational center. Residents here follow the Hindu philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes maintaining harmony between humans, the environment, and the divine.
