Haft Tanan Museum

The Haft Tanan Museum in Shiraz is defined by a central, open-sided hall that features two massive monolithic stone columns supporting a wooden roof. Located at the foot of Chehel Maqam Mountain, this walled garden houses seven tombs of anonymous mystics, which give the site its name, meaning seven bodies. During the eighteenth century, Karim Khan Zand commissioned the construction of the current building over these graves, placing large, uninscribed stone slabs above them to honor the deceased while keeping their identities a mystery.
