Mausoleum of Hafez

The Mausoleum of Hafez is distinguished by its copper-clad dome, shaped like a dervish’s hat and supported by eight tall stone columns. Located in the Musalla Gardens in Shiraz, this site honors the fourteenth-century poet Hafez, whose verses remain a cornerstone of Persian culture. The present pavilion and surrounding memorial hall were designed by the French architect André Godard and completed in nineteen thirty-seven, replacing earlier structures that had stood on this ground for centuries.
