Vakil Bazaar

Vakil Bazaar is defined by its soaring, vaulted brick ceilings that rise more than eleven meters above the ground. These arches were built during the eighteenth century to keep the interior cool during the hot summer months. As the economic heart of Shiraz, this marketplace was commissioned by the Zand dynasty ruler Karim Khan, who sought to transform the city into a major commercial hub.
