Jameh Atigh Mosque

The Jameh Atigh Mosque is the oldest mosque in Shiraz, distinguishable by a singular, stone-built cubic structure known as the Khodaye Khaneh that sits directly in the center of its courtyard. Built in the ninth century to celebrate the conquest of Shiraz by the Saffarid ruler Amr ibn al-Layth, the mosque stands on the site of a pre-Islamic religious compound, likely a fire temple.
