Vakil Water Storage

The Vakil Water Storage, or ab-anbar, is a subterranean reservoir constructed in the late seventeen hundreds during the Zand dynasty. It is defined by its massive underground chamber, which features sturdy brick vaults and a traditional ventilation system designed to keep water cool in the desert heat. As part of a larger royal complex commissioned by Karim Khan Zand, the structure was built to secure a reliable source of fresh water for the growing capital city of Shiraz.
