Osaka Municipal Housing Museum "Osaka Museum of Housing and Living"

The Osaka Museum of Housing and Living occupies the top floors of a municipal housing complex in the Tenjinbashi district. Its defining feature is a full-scale, indoor reconstruction of an entire townscape from the Edo period, specifically modeled on the city as it appeared between eighteen thirty and eighteen forty-four. Unlike traditional museums that keep artifacts behind glass, this space invites you to walk through the recreated streets, entering life-size merchants' shops, a public bathhouse, and private townhouses built using historical construction methods.
