Sendaizaka

Sendaizaka, or Sendai Slope, takes its name from the feudal lords of the Sendai domain who maintained a suburban residence here during the Edo period. The incline serves as a landmark in the Minato ward, a district defined by its history of samurai estates, temples, and shrines. Today, the site of the former Sendai clan yashiki is occupied by the Embassy of South Korea.
