Tokyo Tower

viewpoint

Tokyo Tower is a lattice steel structure painted in alternating bands of international orange and white, rising three hundred thirty-three meters above the Shiba-koen district. Completed in nineteen fifty-eight, it was designed as a centralized broadcasting hub for the Kanto region following a period where individual companies erected competing, fragmented antennas across the city. Architect Tachū Naitō modeled the tower’s silhouette after the Eiffel Tower, though the Japanese version stands taller and weighs significantly less than its French counterpart.
