Shiba Park is easily identified by the bright orange lattice of Tokyo Tower, which rises immediately above the trees and lawns of this green space. Established in eighteen seventy-three, it ranks as one of the first five public parks in Japan. The grounds wrap around the historically significant Zōjō-ji Temple, which served as the family temple of the Tokugawa shogunate beginning in fifteen ninety-eight.
