The Nicholas G. Hayek Centre is distinguished by a wall of vegetation that cascades from the roof to the ground, creating a vertical park within the dense Ginza district. Inaugurated in May two thousand seven, this fourteen-story building serves as the Japanese headquarters for the Swatch Group. Architect Shigeru Ban designed the structure to replace the former Pearl building, incorporating operable four-story-high glass shutters on the front and back facades. When opened, these shutters transform the interior atrium into a public thoroughfare known as Watch Street.
