Okuno Building

The Okuno Building is a reinforced concrete structure in Ginza that stands out for its pre-war design, characterized by two distinct sections built in nineteen thirty-two and nineteen thirty-four. Originally constructed as the Ginza Apartments by owner Okuno Jisuke on the site of a former railroad parts factory, the complex was designed by architect Kawamoto Ryōichi. It was a luxury residence for its time, featuring an elevator—a rarity in apartments during the early Shōwa era—and modern amenities like steam heating.
