The bronze statue of the samurai Kusunoki Masashige stands in the Kokyo Gaien National Garden, depicting a warrior mounted on a spirited horse. Reaching about eight meters in total height with its granite plinth, the sculpture captures Masashige bowing his head while pulling on the reins to control his mount. This figure represents the fourteenth-century commander as he prepared to welcome Emperor Go-Daigo back from exile in thirteen thirty-three.
