The Maison Hermès building in the Ginza district is identifiable by its facade, which is constructed from thirteen thousand custom-made glass blocks. This structure, which reaches ten stories high, appears to glow like a lantern at night and maintains a shimmering, translucent quality during the day. Designed by architect Renzo Piano and completed in two thousand one, the building houses the Hermès flagship store and corporate offices for Japan.
