The Malay Central Mosque, also known as the Acheen Street Mosque, rises above the surrounding heritage lanes with a distinctively pagoda-like, octagonal minaret. Founded in eighteen oh eight by Tengku Syed Hussain Al-Aidid, an affluent merchant and member of the royal family of Aceh, the structure reflects a blend of Malay, Acehnese, and Middle Eastern architectural influences.
