The Penang Hajj Gallery stands at eighty-seven Lebuh Acheh, occupying a colonial-era building that once served as a vital ticketing office for Muslim pilgrims embarking on their sea voyages. Between eighteen twenty-eight and the nineteen sixties, this site functioned as a primary hub where travelers from across the Malay Archipelago, Thailand, and Sumatra prepared for their long journey to the Holy Land. During this era, the surrounding area became so active with maritime pilgrimage traffic that locals and travelers alike referred to it as the Second Jeddah.
