The Sri Mahamariamman Temple is marked by a twenty-three and a half foot tall entrance tower, or gopuram, topped with five small kalasams. This structure is distinguished by its four tiers of brightly colored sculptures, which depict Hindu deities, soldiers, and swans. As the oldest Hindu temple in Penang, it occupies a site on Queen Street that has served as a place of worship for over two centuries.
