Fuente Inmolación De Quetzalcoatl

The Fuente Inmolación de Quetzalcóatl features a central bronze sculpture that rises twenty-five meters, shaped like a flame or a horn reaching toward the sky. Inaugurated in February nineteen eighty-two as the focal point of the Plaza Tapatía, this work by sculptor Víctor Manuel Contreras depicts the mythological sacrifice of the deity Quetzalcóatl. The central pillar is surrounded by four smaller six-meter sculptures representing the cardinal directions, symbolizing the transition from the physical realm of the serpent to the spiritual flight of the bird.
