Cabañas Museum

The Cabañas Museum is recognizable by a massive chapel dome that rises over thirty-two meters above the Guadalajara skyline. Originally known as the House of Charity and Mercy, the building was commissioned by Bishop Juan Ruiz de Cabañas and constructed between eighteen oh five and eighteen forty-five. Architect Manuel Tolsá designed the neoclassical complex on a single level to assist the movement of orphans, the elderly, and the infirm who lived here for over a century.
