The National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman is a sprawling building with a white facade that occupies a prominent position at the end of the ceremonial boulevard in Old Muscat, directly facing the Qasr al-Alam Palace. Established by royal decree in twenty thirteen and opened to the public in twenty sixteen, the museum functions as the nation’s flagship cultural institution. It is designed to house over seven thousand artifacts that trace the history of the Oman Peninsula from two million years ago to the present day.
