Shuyuanmen

Shuyuanmen is a bluestone-paved street characterized by its two-story, dark-timbered buildings designed to evoke the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Known locally as the Calligraphy Street, it takes its name from the Guanzhong Academy, which once functioned here as the highest seat of learning in Shaanxi Province. Founded in sixteen oh nine, this prestigious institution attracted scholars from across Northwest China for centuries before it was converted into a school in nineteen oh six.
