Tianfu Square

Tianfu Square is a vast rectangular plaza in the center of Chengdu, marked by a thirty-meter-tall statue of Mao Zedong that stands on its northern edge. The square sits at the intersection of the city’s primary north-south and east-west axes, occupying eighty-eight thousand square meters. Its landscape features a design inspired by the taijitu, incorporating a prominent Sun and Immortal Birds motif derived from gold ornaments found at the nearby Jinsha archaeological site.
