Baylan

Baylan is a pastry shop in the Kadıköy market, identifiable by its worn swinging doors and the scent of chocolate that has lingered here since its opening in nineteen sixty-one. It is the last remaining branch of an institution founded in nineteen twenty-three by an Albanian immigrant named Philip Lenas. While the original shops in Beyoğlu and Karaköy have long since closed, the Kadıköy location maintains the legacy of the family’s European-style confections.
