Calderstones School is set apart by the presence of two distinct nineteenth-century estates, Hartfield and Quarry Bank, which anchor the grounds on Harthill Road. The school itself, a large comprehensive, emerged through the merger of multiple local institutions, including the former Quarry Bank High School for Boys and Calder High School for Girls.
