Mendips is a semi-detached house on Menlove Avenue in the Woolton suburb of Liverpool. It is distinguished by its name, which is inscribed on the gate pillar, a touch of aspiration from the nineteen thirties when the home was built. John Lennon lived here from nineteen forty-six until nineteen sixty-three, moving in at age five to be raised by his aunt, Mary Elizabeth Smith, known as Mimi, and her husband, George.
