Sever Hall is a four-story, red-brick building in Harvard Yard distinguished by its rounded corner towers, steep hipped roof, and deeply recessed arched entrances. Completed in eighteen eighty, the building was designed by the American architect Henry Hobson Richardson and stands as a masterwork of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. It was funded by a bequest from Anne Sever to honor her late husband, James Warren Sever, a Civil War general.
