This bright yellow, wood-frame mansion at one hundred five Brattle Street stands out for its sprawling Georgian architecture and its history as the residence of two of the most significant figures in American history. Built in seventeen fifty-nine for a wealthy loyalist named John Vassall, the house became the focal point of the American Revolution when General George Washington chose it as his headquarters from July seventeen seventy-five to April seventeen seventy-six.
