The Harvard Art Museums are identified by a sweeping glass roof, known as the Lantern, that sits atop the restored masonry facade of the nineteen twenties Fogg Museum building. This structure unites three historically distinct institutions—the Fogg, the Busch-Reisinger, and the Arthur M. Sackler Museums—into a single facility on Quincy Street. The design, completed in twenty fourteen by architect Renzo Piano, creates a central, light-filled courtyard that serves as the heart of the building, organizing thousands of objects from antiquity to the present.
