North Street Fire Station

The North Street Fire Station at one hundred forty-two North Street is a two-story brick building constructed in the Queen Anne style. Designed by Salem architect William Dennis and completed in eighteen eighty-one, it is recognized as the oldest active fire station in the city. The structure originally featured a single bay for a horse-drawn steamer, with stables located in the rear and a wardroom on the upper level that hosted civic meetings and elections.
